HanchorBio Expands HCB206 Development into Autoimmune Diseases and Advances Key Preclinical Studies
Building on its cancer immunotherapy foundation, HanchorBio extends its platform strategy into high-need immune-mediated diseases.
[Taipei, Shanghai, San Francisco | May 7, 2026] – HanchorBio, Inc. (TPEx: 7827), a global clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing next-generation immunotherapies for oncology and autoimmune diseases, today announced that its internally developed dual-target fusion protein candidate, HCB206, has demonstrated therapeutic potential in preclinical studies across both oncology and autoimmune disease models.
HCB206 is built on HanchorBio’s proprietary FBDB™ platform and is designed to enhance drug half-life and immune effector functions, including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis. These mechanisms are intended to support immune recognition and clearance of abnormal cells. While originally developed in the context of cancer immunotherapy, the same immune-modulating approach may also have potential applications in autoimmune diseases by targeting pathogenic immune cells.
In preclinical studies, HCB206 showed significant tumor inhibition in multiple animal tumor models and demonstrated therapeutic potential in immune disease models. HanchorBio has also generated pharmacological data indicating that HCB206 may modulate immune cell activity and improve immune microenvironment responses, supporting further development toward IND-enabling studies.
“HCB206 is being developed not only for oncology indications, but also to evaluate whether its immune-modulating mechanism can be applied to a broader range of diseases,” said Dr. Wen-Wu Zhai, Chief Research and Development Officer of HanchorBio. “Based on the existing preclinical data, we are working to complete formal toxicology studies and other IND-enabling requirements as efficiently as possible, while assessing the clinical development strategy for autoimmune disease indications.”
“HCB206 represents an important step in HanchorBio’s expansion from cancer immunotherapy into autoimmune diseases,” said Dr. Scott Liu, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HanchorBio. “We will continue to advance differentiated next-generation fusion protein therapeutics through our FBDB™ platform and build a dual-track development strategy across oncology and immune-mediated diseases.”
Autoimmune diseases affect approximately 10% of the global population, and many patients require long-term treatment. Despite available therapies, current immunosuppressive treatments may be associated with side effects, variable efficacy and relapse risk. HanchorBio is pursuing a dual-track research strategy in this area, including approaches focused on pathogenic B-cell depletion and multifunctional immune-modulating therapeutics with T-cell regulatory and cytokine-neutralizing activities.
HanchorBio currently has two innovative drug candidates developed through its FBDB™ platform in clinical trials. The company plans to continue leveraging its platform capabilities to advance its oncology and autoimmune disease pipeline and explore global opportunities in immunotherapy.
