[Taipei, Shanghai, San Francisco | November 5, 2026] – HanchorBio, Inc. (TWSE: 7827), a global clinical-stage biotechnology company developing next-generation immunotherapies for oncology and immune-mediated diseases, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital (KMUH). The collaboration combines HanchorBio’s expertise in innovative drug development and clinical development with KMUH’s clinical and research expertise in gastrointestinal oncology to explore potential opportunities for future clinical research. Both parties aim to generate additional scientific evidence in cancer research through clinical studies, while maintaining rigorous standards of patient safety, medical ethics, and regulatory compliance.

The MOU represents an important step toward establishing a foundation for further collaboration between HanchorBio and KMUH in clinical research and medical innovation. Through professional exchanges and resource integration, both parties intend to evaluate appropriate directions for research collaboration and strengthen the connection between innovative drug development and clinical needs.

Focusing on Clinical Needs in Cancer and Strengthening Research Collaboration

KMUH brings extensive clinical expertise in the treatment and medical research of gastrointestinal cancers, while HanchorBio focuses on innovative drug development and clinical development in oncology and immune-mediated diseases. By combining their respective expertise in clinical medicine and biotechnology research, both parties aim to explore appropriate models for research collaboration through ongoing dialogue and evaluation, in accordance with Taiwan’s regulatory and medical ethics requirements.

Professor Jaw-Yuan Wang, President of KMUH, noted that the Taiwan government’s “Healthy Taiwan” policy aims to improve public health and strengthen cancer prevention and control efforts, while medical institutions must continue to enhance the quality of clinical care and research. He emphasized that the primary purpose of the MOU is to establish a framework for communication and evaluation of clinical research-related matters between the two parties, with the scope of collaboration focused on exploring potential clinical research opportunities. Should specific research projects be proposed in the future, each will be evaluated objectively and prudently based on its research design and scientific evidence, and will undergo the necessary review and approval procedures in accordance with applicable regulations to ensure research quality, participant safety, and the protection of participants’ rights and interests.

Advances in Innovative Immunotherapy Research: Connecting Science with Clinical Needs

HanchorBio continues to develop innovative immunotherapies through its proprietary FBDB™ multifunctional biologics platform. Its lead investigational candidate is designed to block the CD47–SIRPα immune checkpoint to enhance macrophage-mediated antitumor immune responses and explore the interplay between innate and adaptive immunity. Related preclinical findings have been published in the international scientific journal Journal of Hematology & Oncology, providing an important scientific foundation for further research.

The investigational candidate is currently being evaluated in Phase 1b/2a clinical trials in Taiwan, the United States, and other regions, covering solid tumors including gastric cancer, gastroesophageal junction cancer, and colorectal cancer. Clinical findings remain preliminary, and the safety and efficacy of the investigational therapy have yet to be confirmed in subsequent studies. These findings will inform the evaluation of future clinical development strategies.

Exploring Future Collaboration with Patient Safety and Medical Ethics at the Core

Under the MOU, HanchorBio and KMUH will engage in discussions and evaluations of potential research directions and implementation approaches based on clinical needs. By leveraging their respective expertise and resources, both parties aim to progressively strengthen their collaboration and contribute to the advancement of clinical research and medical science.

“The value of innovative drug development lies not only in continued scientific progress, but also in addressing real-world clinical needs,” said Scott Liu, Ph.D., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HanchorBio. “Signing this MOU with KMUH represents an important step in strengthening HanchorBio’s collaboration with medical institutions in Taiwan. We look forward to combining our respective expertise to continue exploring appropriate directions for clinical research collaboration and contributing to the advancement of medical research.”
